Prototype of an interface that teaches middle school teachers how to teach science through design.
Teaching Teachers Design | Prototype & Research Poster
A semester-long studio project in collaboration with Meredith Davis, Santiago Piedrafita, and Exploris Middle School in Raleigh, NC. The interface is an exploration of the issue of design methods as a means for teaching middle school science (in compliance with The Standards). The website addresses the following: how designers think, what people what and need, what the context demands, how design solutions are produced and distributed, consequences of design action, and methods for finding out about the previous issues.
The video shows an example of what a scenario might look like when instructing students about the water cycle. The implication is that teachers are learning methods and examples from this site and will then begin to apply that knowledge in their own teaching.
